ProfitBoard Ventures, a Singapore based initiative of the Taxmantra Global is looking to invest in startups from Hyderabad.
The company will concentrate on Fin-tech, Artificial intelligence, Ed-tech and E-sports to channel its funds.
Taxmantra Global was founded in 1983 and it provides advisory, tax and regulatory services to businesses. They have their delivery centers in Singapore, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi.
Presently out of the total funds they bring to India, 25% of it goes to the startups based in Hyderabad.
In the past 24 months, they have invested close to $ 18 million (₹132 crore) in three startups from Hyderabad which are working in the Fin-tech and AI sector.
In an interview given to a newspaper in Telangana, ProfitBoard Ventures’ managing partner Alok Patnia said that they are in talks with another three startups who are developing interesting solutions in Ed-tech and E-sports segment.
The company is also in talks with other startups from Chennai, Delhi, Gujarat and West Bengal.
In India, they have invested in startups like Chingari-a short video sharing app, Neeman’s-a sustainably-made shoe brand and Zoconut – a diet and nutrition software.
ProfitBoard has been helping startups which are in their early stage, by offering deals worth $500,000 (₹3.68 crore) to $10 million (₹73 crore). They are doing it through their consortium of investors who are interested in India and Southeast Asia.
“Our medium term three-year goal is to nurture 100-plus startups from India and Southeast Asia”, said Alok Patnia.
Taxmantra Global, the parent company of ProfitBoard has assisted in 100-plus deals in the last three years, translating to about $180 million (₹1,325 crore) funding in startups.
“In India, we expect to see a lot more product and enterprise startups because of increased technology adoption in small and medium enterprises. The country is now ready for the kind of companies that we see in Silicon Valley” Patnia added.
